Philosophy

The focus of A Child’s Studio is to create images that appeal to the heart, rather than to logic or tradition. Our photographs are intentionally designed to evoke emotion. If you are seeking a photograph of your child smiling and looking directly in the camera, perfectly posed and centered, with every hair in place, you have come to the wrong photographer. While we are not opposed to portraying the happy side of childhood, this is not necessarily our goal. We do not force children to smile. We seek to portray with gentle sensitivity, the range of emotions your child chooses to share with us, whatever those emotions might be. Each side of your child’s personality---happy, sad, vulnerable, curious---is legitimate, precious and worthy of permanent expression on film. The more unique, unusual or spontaneous the mood of the child, the more you will cherish those images in years to come. This is our promise to you. So whatever your child’s state of mind the day of your session, relax! There is no right or wrong ---only possibility and the reward of discovery.
